The climate of Uttar Pradesh is predominantly sub-tropical but weather
conditions change significantly with location and season.

Summer
It is very hot in the summers across the state but slightly cooler in the east.
The summer lasts from April to August. Daytime temperatures usually
touche around 45¡ãC in Western Uttar Pradesh and the Agra area and
around 42¡ãC in Eastern Utter Pradesh. The highest temperature recorded
in the State was 49.9¡ãC at Gonda on May 8th 1958. Nights are relatively
cooler and the temperature comes down to as low as 28 ¡ãC because of the
cool breeze.

Winter
Winters in Uttar Pradesh are a lot cooler with day temperatures pleasant at
around 24¡ãC. Nights are chilly with temperatures reaching as low as 2 to
4¡ãC across the state. The winter begins around Mid-November and
continues until the end of February. In the Himalayan region of the State
annual snowfall averaging 3 to 5 metres is common between December and
March.

Monsoon
Rainfall in Uttar Pradesh varies considerably. While in the South West the
monsoon is very moderate, in the east it rains very heavily in short spells.
The average annual rainfall varies from 105-110 centimeters in places like
Allahabad and Varanasi  to as low as 45-50 centimeters in Agra. Relative
humidity in semi-arid regions such as Agra can be very high.

About 90 percent of the rainfall occurs during the southwest monsoon,
lasting from about June to September. With most of the rainfall
concentrated during this four-month period, floods are a recurring problem
and cause heavy damage, particularly in the eastern part of the state where
the Himalayan-origin rivers flow with a very low north-south gradient.

When To Go
The best time to visit Uttar Pradesh is between October and March.
